Rules and Gameplay
Q: If I run out of Player Stars, can I Claim on some future turn to get some back?
A: No. You must take an Action on your turn in order to Claim. If you have no Player Stars, you cannot take any Actions.
Q: Can I Claim multiple Constellations on my turn?
A: No.
Q: What if those multiple Constellations don’t share any Player Stars with each other?
A: No.
Q: I’m struggling to see how a Constellation pattern maps onto the board. What can I do?
A: Many players like to pick up the Constellation cards and rotate them over the Sky board to help them visualize. Alternatively, if you don’t want to alert your opponent to your intensions, you may rotate the entire Sky board.
Q: I’ve made the reflection of a Constellation pattern, but it’s also a rotation. Can I Claim this way?
A: Yes! As long as rotating the card matches the pattern, you can Claim in that way. A pattern with a reflection that is the same as a rotation, in geometric terms, is called “achiral.” The opposite, a pattern with a reflection that is not the same as any of its rotations, is called “chiral.”
Q: Is it ever actually useful to willingly Pass? When?
A: Certainly. I will often pass when I’m running low on Player Stars and don’t have many compelling Actions or Claims available to me (assuming I’m ahead on Points). Especially if it seems likely that my opponent will open up some lines for me when they Claim.
Q: What happens if there are no Constellations left in the deck?
A: I have never seen this happen, but rules as written should still apply in this case. If a Constellation is claimed and you would make a new one available but the deck is empty, just keep going. Per the rules, once there are no Constellations left to be Claimed, the game ends.
Art and Design
Q: Are the Constellation cards based on real constellations?
A: Nope, we made them all up!
Q: How did you come up with the Constellation names?
A: They are all somewhat direct translations to Finnish for what the constellation represents.
Q: Why Finnish?
A: Some of the early artistic ideation of the project had Scandinavian influence, which we ended up leaning into with some of our Constellation design — apart from that, there’s no specific reason.
Q: Why is “Rapu” so cute?
A: Crab
